Will 4G be the next step of evolution from EDGE?

With 3G not taking off in a way it was predicted, researchers in telecom labs are working overtime to push 4G as a direct evoltionary path from WiMAX, LTE and IMS.

Nortel is already out with its mobile broadband and its been predicted time and again that most of the data packets in a 4G network won't come from humans -> it would be coming from sensors and robots working on behalf of humans. Next decade is going to be revolutionary as far as telecom and entertainment/content on mobile handsets is concerned.
