I have been amazed many times that there are lot of technical people who just strive for challenges and wish to work on nice cool project e.g. 20% -80% google way but somehow don't get the resources or the time to do it.
Why not we can utilize this big technical community to make something similar to Linux open source project for solving critical AI or information learning or spectrum utilization algorithms for vast no. of users? Making it similar to wikipedia or open source would be beneficial to everyone in longer run. Today internet provides us this unique mechanism by which all the knowledge gained in last several centuries is at our disposal. We should understand and utilize it in constructive ways to solve the problems which might be seen in the future.
For example, next decade belongs to network data transmission and reception (be it wired or wireless): there would be sensors exchanging tons of information about their local environment to the centralized governing entity which would take into account all the history information before making an optimal decision. However, this would entails some problems regarding storage, usage and complexity of the analysis of this huge data that the present h/w or s/w resources wouldn't be able to cope up with it....So, we should start thinking about these problems with an altogether different mindset.
